George Thomason smashed a long-range strike in the 31st minute to put Wrexham in front, and they beat Stoke City 2-0.

Collecting the second phase of a corner on the right, the midfielder's left-footer arrowed into the top left corner (31.). It was a clean, confident hit that flipped control of the game and settled Wrexham.

From there, Thomason ran the midfield. He snapped into duels, made 10 recoveries and four tackles, and repeatedly regained territory that kept Stoke City penned back after the restart.

On the ball he was just as tidy, completing 61 passes with 54 accurate and eight into the final third. He finished with two attempts, both on target, and 88 touches, the profile of a player dictating tempo as Wrexham held 53.3% possession.

Because he dominated second balls around set pieces and recycled play smartly, Stoke City never established rhythm and failed to register a shot on target. Thomason's positioning and decisions ensured the home side controlled the key phases.

Wrexham remain seventh on 67 points and visit Oxford United next in the Championship. Stoke City are 17th and host Millwall next.
