Bojan Miovski decided the game in the first minute of stoppage time, steering a left-footed finish to give Rangers a 1-0 victory over St Mirren.
Introduced in the 78th minute, Miovski immediately offered a penalty-box reference point, occupying centre-backs and keeping attacks alive as Rangers pushed through a succession of corners.
He then read Ryan Naderi's knockdown and guided his shot into the centre of the goal in stoppage time, a clinical touch that turned pressure into points.
Miovski finished with one attempt and one goal from 10 touches, adding three successful final third passes in a 12-minute cameo that tilted the contest.
With St Mirren clearing repeatedly under pressure, his movement between the centre-backs gave Rangers the sharper edge their crossing volume demanded in the closing stages.
Rangers climb from fourth to second in the Scottish Premiership and host Celtic in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals next. St Mirren welcome Dundee United in the league.
