Finlay Robertson settled it in the 84th minute with a left-footed finish, as Dundee beat Motherwell 2-1. The substitute's calm strike proved the difference between Dundee and Motherwell.
Introduced for fresh legs (63.), Robertson immediately occupied central pockets and looked to run beyond. He was flagged offside as he tried to break the line (69.).
The key moment arrived when he got into the box to steer a left-footed effort from the centre of the area into the middle of the net (84.). The move came from a quick set piece, with Joe Westley supplying the pass.
Robertson's cameo was efficient and incisive: one attempt, one on target and one goal, plus three touches in the box and four passes completed from four. He also logged two successful passes in the final third and a successful dribble, underlining the impact of his timing and control.
Those numbers reflect why his introduction worked: he attacked the gap between midfield and defence, added penalty area presence, and gave Dundee a late runner that Motherwell struggled to track.
Dundee rise from ninth to eighth and host Dundee United next. Motherwell visit Celtic in their next league fixture.
