Barcelona sporting director Deco has said Raphinha has agreed a new deal that would keep him for the next four seasons. According to L'Équipe, he told the club’s general assembly on Saturday that agreement came between Friday and Saturday, with only administrative details to finalise.

He had moments earlier suggested Raphinha would extend until 2029. Deco added that a few formalities still need to be completed.

Whatever the final term, it is a boost for Barcelona, with the 29-year-old’s existing contract running to 2028.

Raphinha is in outstanding form and is now Barça captain. He has scored nine goals in six La Liga matches.

He also struck twice in their opening Champions League match, a 5-1 win over Feyenoord.
