According to Glorioso 1904, Amar Dedic has left Benfica to join Newcastle on a deal running to June 2031, saying the chance to work again with Matthias Jaissle, with whom he teamed up at Salzburg, weighed heavily in his decision.

The Bosnia international spent one season at Benfica and will wear number 37.

He described joining Newcastle as a special step and a big honour, adding he cannot wait to play for the club and its supporters. He also highlighted the appeal of the Premier League and playing at St. James' Park.

Dedic departs after 46 appearances, one goal and four assists for Benfica.

Jaissle said he is very happy to add Dedic to the squad, noting he coached him at Salzburg when he was young and has followed his progress since. He praised the defender's ability to operate on both flanks, as well as his physical and technical qualities.
