Defender and midfielder return for Corinthians in Brazilian league win

Corinthians faced Vitória on the afternoon of Saturday, October 25, at Barradão Stadium, in a match valid for the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship, and won with a score of 1 x 1. Midfielder Charles – towards the end of the second half – was the one who scored the Corinthians goal. The result placed the team in ninth position with 39 points (10 wins, nine draws, and 11 losses – 32 goals scored and 35 conceded).

The match, besides the three points, marked the returns of defender André Ramalho and midfielder André Carrillo wearing the Corinthians jersey. The defender had not played since September 28, when the Alvinegro was defeated 2 x 1 by Flamengo, in Itaquera, during the 25th round of the national competition.

On that day, he suffered a strain in the posterior muscle of his right thigh and had not been included in the last four games of the team (Internacional – A – 1x 1, Mirassol – H – 3 x 0, Santos – A – 3 x 1, and Atlético-MG -H – 1 x 0). André Ramalho was brought in by coach Dorival Júnior at the 37th minute of the second half and replaced forward Yuri Alberto, as the team was one player down.

On Sofascore, he received a rating of 6.6 and recorded three clearances and 1/2 aerial duels won. In total, he has played 67 matches wearing the Corinthians jersey (59 as a starter), achieving 30 wins, 19 draws, and 18 losses – a little over 54% success rate, being part of the state champion squad of 2025, against Palmeiras, in Itaquera. Overall, he has one goal and one assist. Ramalho joined the Alvinegro during the mid-2024 transfer window.

Meanwhile, midfielder André Carrillo, who was recovering from a ligament injury in his left ankle, had not played since August 6. On that occasion, he was a starter in the team's 2 x 0 victory over Palmeiras, in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16, when he got injured in a challenge on the sideline.

The number 19 played for 62 minutes and was substituted by midfielder Charles at the 17th minute of the second half. According to Sofascore, he recorded the following statistics in the match: 40/46 accurate passes (87%), 17/23 passes (74%) in the opponent's half, 23/23 accurate passes in his own half (100%), and 1/4 accurate long passes (25%).

In total, he has three goals and five assists wearing the Corinthians jersey in 61 matches (41 as a starter), with 35 wins, 12 draws, and 14 losses – almost 64% success rate. The Peruvian was signed during the mid-2024 transfer window and has since been a key player for the team, playing an important role in the team's surge in the last edition of the Brasileirão and being a starter in the campaign for this year's Paulistão title.

Another player who also returned to play for the team, after missing some training days during the FIFA break due to personal reasons – and was not included in the matches against Santos and Atlético-MG in the Brasileirão, was midfielder José Martínez. The Venezuelan played this afternoon at times as a right-back and received a rating of 6.9 on Sofascore: one ball recovery, 5/9 ground duels won, and four clearances.

After facing Vitória away in the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians remains focused on the national competition. In the next round, on November 2, at 4 pm, the Alvinegro will host Grêmio at the Neo Química Arena, for the 31st round of the national competition.
