“Deja Vu” As Inter Milan Stars Shine In Italy 3-1 Nations Win Vs France | OneFootball

It was “deja vu” for Italy as Inter Milan duo Federico Dimarco and Davide Frattesi played a key role in a Nations League win over France.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the parallels to a 3-2 victory over the Netherlands last year.

Italy went some way towards putting their EURO 2024 disappointment behind them yesterday.

The Azzurri had to recover from a very early setback. They went behind within a minute of play.

But Italy fought back, overrunning Les Bleus in midfield for much of the match.

And then the goals for the comeback came courtesy of wingback Federico Dimarco and Davide Frattesi.

Both of that pair have become key players in the Italy setup.

Wingback Dimarco starts regularly for both club and country. His passing, goals, and assists are key for the Nerazzurri, but equally so for Italy.

And Frattesi if anything is a more important player for the Azzurri than for Inter.

The 24-year-old has yet to start for Inter this season. But he was in the lineup for Italy.

Both Dimarco and Frattesi have had the national team to thank in part for their respective rises over the last couple years.

Both Dimarco and Frattesi had played an important role for Italy in a big Nations League match last year as well.

In the third place match of the competition, the Azzurri beat the Netherlands 3-2.

And both Dimarco and Frattesi were on the scoresheet in that match.

This time around, DImarco produced a stunning first-time volley to equalize from France’s very early opener.

Then, it was Frattesi who scored the second goal which proved to be the winner.

As he had against the Netherlands, the former Sassuolo midfielder showed that even if he does not always start for his club, he is a key man for his country, and capped it off with a vital goal.
