Ousmane Dembélé hit a brilliant double in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 win over Lille, a performance that felt like the real start to his 2026.

He struck in the 13th minute with a curling finish to open the scoring, then added a second after the break with a deft left-foot lob over Berke Özer, having been found by Désiré Doué. They were his fourth and fifth Ligue 1 goals of the season. According to L'Équipe, this felt like the night his campaign truly clicked.

Luis Enrique likened the strike to something from a video game, everything executed at once. Dembélé said he initially wanted to play in one touch, miscontrolled slightly, shifted onto his left and, seeing the keeper advanced, tried the lob that came off.

Lille keeper Lucas Chevalier admitted from his angle he thought it was going out and called it a moment of real class. The forward’s autumn was disrupted by muscle issues and a December virus, and his celebration, finger to lips, hinted at messages to doubters or even his bosses over a delayed extension, though only he will know.

He now has four goals in four games in 2026 and looks back to full athletic sharpness. In the first half he led play between the lines, with 68 touches and 90% passing, albeit often far from goal. After the interval he roamed right, left and central, pressing high and evoking last spring’s Champions League surge.

Luis Enrique also wants him to lead without the ball, and on Friday he did. PSG will lean on him in the coming months, and if he sustains this level they can genuinely dream, France too.
