Denmark ease to victory against Wales | OneFootball

Wales are still waiting to win a top flight game in the UEFA Nations League after falling to defeat away to Denmark.

The Danes were on top for much of the 90 minutes in Copenhagen and thought they had taken the lead in the 24th minute. A quick break resulted in Rasmus Højlund putting in a low ball from the left that Gustav Isaksen did brilliantly well to finish. However, VAR saved Wales with Højlund having just strayed offside in the build-up.

Craig Bellamy's side did well to get to half-time goalless but the deadlock was eventually broken eight minutes into the second half. A Mikkel Damsgaard delivery looked like it had been converted by Højlund but it was in fact Ben Davies whose touch was decisive with it going down as an own goal off the defender.

Denmark didn't sit on their lead and made it 2-0 in the 66th minute. Neco Williams had no reason to give away a freekick on the edge of the area with the subsequent delivery headed away by Kieffer Moore only for Isaksen's volley to find a net via a deflection. It wasn't quite the quality of finish the Lazio man had produced in the first half but this time it counted.

From that point on it was hard to see how Wales would get back into the game and they now sit bottom of Group 4 with two defeats from two.
