Derby County have been hit with the news that key defender Sondre Langas will not return until around April.

Langas picked up the hamstring issue against West Bromwich Albion at the end of January, and now manager John Eustace has confirmed it is worse than initially feared.

“Sonny’s still going to be three or four weeks away,” he said. “He had quite a big tear on his tendon. He’s making fantastic progress so I think it’ll be after the international break, unfortunately, when he’ll be back in with us.”

Full-back Max Johnston will be out until around the same time. He pulled his hamstring against QPR earlier in the season and was initially supposed to return in January.

But he was hit with a calf issue which kept him out for longer than expected. Eustace said: “Max is probably very similar (to Langas). Hopefully after the next international break, both of those players will be back in with the group.”
