‘Derby of Dross but a crucial point, all eyes now on transfer window

Well that was ninety odd minutes of our life we won’t get back as the first Glasgow Derby of the season ended in a stalemate, which was perfectly summed up by Chris Sutton as the “Derby of Dross”…

Celtic as expected looked lightweight up top and failed to breach a bang average theRangers backline, with chances literally few and far between from both sides, and in the end a draw can be considered the fairest outcome.

It’s a point that will prove crucial all the same, as it sends us top on goal difference above Hearts and keeps us six points clear of our newest Glasgow rivals which could prove vital, even at this early stage of the campaign.

New boy Michel – Ange Balikwisha made his debut and looked bright without really threatening, and was the victim of some questionable officiating as he was denied the opportunity to go clean on goal after James Tavernier threw himself to the ground, which was well and truly bought by Don Robertson.

Robertson didn’t have the best of games, and constantly stopped the flow of the game, and seemed determined to give the home side a free kick at every opportunity. Had the goal that theRangers scored not been correctly called as offside by Andrew Dallas on VAR then there would have been a massive controversy over the free-kick given against Anthony Ralston.

Marcelo Sarrachi also made his debut from the bench late on and looked steady enough in a defence that despite all our criticism this season, looks rock solid as our fourth consecutive league clean sheet tells.

We should be more than content with our start to the domestic proceedings, now all eyes will turn to the next 24 hours and what the transfer window brings…with three Celtic signings expected.
