The Blades' centre-back issued a dig at their cross-city rivals who could be relegated at Bramall Lane on Sunday

Sheffield United supporters and Blades centre-back Tyler Bindon have been labelled 'desperate' following the New Zealand native's comments about the potential for his side to relegate Sheffield Wednesday in this Sunday's upcoming Steel City derby at Bramall Lane.
The Blades have enjoyed a resurgence since Chris Wilder was reappointed at Bramall Lane in place of Ruben Selles for a third stint in charge of his boyhood club in September, and there is now a firm chance that they could make the Championship play-offs for a second successive campaign.
With a fair portion of the sides in and around the play-off race in the second-tier involved in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend, United made the long venture down to Portsmouth, where Andre Brooks eventually grabbed a crucial 90th-minute winner for the South Yorkshire side as they moved up to 15th in the standings, and they are now just six points behind Derby County in sixth with 14 games of their season still to play.
This time 12 months ago, the Owls were in a similar position under the management of Danny Rohl, before a mass exodus of senior players and the aforementioned German left the S6 club in dire straits as a result of Dejphon Chansiri's controversial ownership, which ended in October as the club was placed into administration.
As a result of such circumstances and further allegations of financial misconduct, Wednesday have been docked 18 points and still sit on minus seven points.
Relegation has been an effective certainty all season long, but could be rubber-stamped at the hands of their bitter rivals this weekend. However, Football League World's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit, Patrick McKenna, believes Bindon's words in the lead-up to the second derby of the season are somewhat meaningless, as the Owls have known their fate for many weeks.

United, of course, won the reverse fixture 3-0 at Hillsborough through Tyrese Campbell's double and a further strike by Tom Cannon, as they climbed out of the bottom three in the process.
Wednesday have failed to win any game since September 20th, and only ended a well-documented goal drought which lasted since Boxing Day on Saturday in their 2-1 defeat to Millwall, meaning they have to avoid defeat against United to put the inevitable confirmation of relegation on hold for another matchweek.
Asked about the prospect of featuring in such an intense fixture and potentially being the side who confirms the Owls' return to League One, Bindon told BBC Radio Sheffield: “Everyone in the squad is really looking forward to it.
"It’ll be awesome to play them at home in front of everyone, so hopefully we can do that, get three points and send them on their way.”
McKenna, however, believes United fans are trying to big the encounter up too much as a result of what could happen.
"I did see the pathetic attempt from Tyler Bindon to try and stir things up and pander to the Blades support," he told FLW.
"Let's be honest, they are not sending us down. Dejphon Chansiri sent us down, and it's almost a miracle that we still exist as a football club.
"We were down before the season began, so no particular club is sending us on our way. It was Dejphon Chansiri who did that," McKenna stated.
"Their fanbase is trying to build it up to something it's not. It's not a thing, and I'm not concerned about who sends us down.
"It's just not a normal season in the slightest, and it's just irrelevant as to which particular game the (R) goes beside our name," he added.
"The madness of it is that we are talking about a game before the end of February (as to) when that's going to happen.
"There does seem to be a real desperation by them to make something which it's not. I almost feel sorry for them that they have to make something up that isn't there.
"Let Tyler (Bindon) play to their fanbase as much as he wants. That's his prerogative. I'm not interested in what he has to say or Chris Wilder or any of their fanbase."

As McKenna alluded to, the writing has been on the wall in terms of relegation for Wednesday since the season kicked off, with Henrik Pedersen left with hardly any resources to work with in the way of squad depth or finances to bring players in.
However, whilst some Owls fans will feel numb over the prospects of being relegated by their cross-city rivals, it will certainly sting for others and only sum up what has been a desperate situation for so long.
From Bindon and United's perspective, the chance to be a part of unwanted history from their rivals' perspective when it comes to the record books will certainly be used as motivation, and would likely be referenced in the future games the two sides play out.
