La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Monday announced a fresh addition to the club’s midfield ranks.
The player all set to link up with the Nervionenses for the 2024/25 campaign? Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The name of midfielder Lokonga has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Seville for several weeks now.
As much comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming in the media that the Belgian, out of favour at Arsenal under the watch of Mikel Arteta, had been identified as a leading target on the part of the brass at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
Negotiations, in turn, had long been kicked into gear between the two clubs, over the terms of a summer transfer.
And, as alluded to above, on Monday, such talks have officially borne fruit.
As per a statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms, Lokonga has joined the club on a season-long loan, through the summer of 2025:
‘An agreement has been reached with Arsenal FC for the season-long loan with an option to buy for 24-year-old Belgian midfielder Albert-Mboyo Sambi Lokonga.’
An insight into the finer details of the agreement has since been provided, too.
As per transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla have agreed to cover the entirety of Lokonga’s wage packet, as well as securing a €12 million option to buy next summer.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will boast a 25% sell-on clause, in the case of as much being activated.
