PANAMA CITY — The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Panama and Suriname playing to a 1-1 draw in Group A on Tuesday at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.
Suriname struck first on a counterattack in the 21’, as Tjaronn Chery connected with a wide open Richonell Margaret for the opening goal.
It was a hard-fought contest throughout that seemed like Suriname was going to be able to pull off the massive road victory, but the hosts fought until the end.
In the 90’+6’, Panama scored the equalizer when Ismael Díaz got on the end of an Azarías Londoño cross to salvage an important point.
With the result, Suriname and Panama are tied with six points in the race for first place in Group A.
Suriname will continue its World Cup qualifying when it hosts El Salvador on November 13. Panama will visit Guatemala in its next match on the same day.
