Luis Díaz will miss FC Bayern after his red card in the Champions League, but it is still unclear whether the penalty will stand. UEFA is still waiting for an answer to the appeal.
Four weeks have already passed since Luis Díaz was sent off in the Champions League clash with Paris. UEFA subsequently banned the FC Bayern attacking player for three matches – a decision that caused a lot of anger in Munich. According to information from SPORT1, the club immediately lodged an appeal. But since then: nothing. The association has not yet responded.
Even the original decision was delayed. Bayern only found out two and a half weeks after the foul on Achraf Hakimi that Díaz would miss three games. Coach Vincent Kompany and sporting director Christoph Freund had initially expected a much more lenient punishment. Kompany explained at the time: „My information is: one game. I would be really disappointed if my information is not correct.“ Freund said: „My information is also: one game. But that is still being communicated.“

For those responsible at Munich, the current silence from UEFA is almost incomprehensible. SPORT1 also reports that the club has been waiting almost two weeks for feedback on the appeal. Frustration is growing – especially as the next match in the premier class is imminent. FC Bayern will face Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday.
UEFA also took its time in preparing the appeal. The appeal could only be officially submitted after the club had received the written reasons for the decision. The fact that there is still no sign of any movement is causing growing unrest at Säbener Straße.
The verdict has far-reaching consequences: in addition to the Arsenal game, Díaz is also at risk of missing Sporting and Union Saint-Gilloise – unless the appeal is at least partially successful. But how long it will take UEFA to reach a final decision remains a secret for the time being.
