In the Premier League’s Match Day Four early kick-off, Arsenal bounced back to winning ways with a commanding 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
While much of the spotlight fell on the ever-threatening Noni Madueke and brace hero Martin Zubimendi, Cristian Mosquera quietly earned his share of plaudits.
The young Spaniard impressed on his full Arsenal debut.
After a standout cameo against Liverpool, where he replaced the injured William Saliba, Mosquera showed that his Anfield performance wasn’t down to sheer luck. He’s simply that good.
Against Forest, he defended his zone with authority, covered ground intelligently, and contributed confidently in possession.

Daily Star wrote: “Filling the big boots of William Saliba, Mosquera seemed right at home alongside Gabriel. The summer signing has caught Mikel Arteta’s eye with his game-reading skills and didn’t shy away from a physical tussle with Chris Wood.”
Football London noted: “Great challenge to prevent what seemed a certain Forest goal after a little confusion with Timber in the box. Replacing William Saliba for the second game running, he did not look out of place. A brilliant defensive stooping header in the second half stopped another dangerous attack from Forest.”
The Sun echoed: “On his first Premier League start, the Spaniard had the responsibility of dealing with man mountain Chris Wood but at 6ft 3in, he could at least look the New Zealander in the eye, and coped with the physical challenge.”
Ultimately, Mosquera is a real gem. The highest compliment to him is that Gooners haven’t missed Saliba.
Signing him for just £13 million already feels like daylight robbery.
