Brazilian defender Diego Carlos, 33, has joined Serie A club Parma on a season-long loan from Türkiye's Fenerbahce, returning to Italy after last term at Como.

Fenerbahce confirmed the agreement, and the club said in a statement confirming the move to Parma. He had not been included in their squad plans for the campaign.

The move adds another Italian chapter to a career built across Europe. He rose at Nantes before switching to Sevilla in May 2019, helping them win the 2019-20 Europa League.

Carlos then signed for Aston Villa in May 2022 and moved to Fenerbahce in January 2025 on a three-and-a-half-year deal. He also won Olympic gold with Brazil at Tokyo 2020.

On arrival in Italy, the Brazilian described himself as happy and excited, keen to meet his new team-mates and supporters. After completing his medical and presentation, he is set to integrate immediately into first-team training.

Parma are counting on his experience to bolster central defence. He is expected to add leadership and depth while he works towards match fitness and a debut in the 2026-27 Serie A campaign.
