Lazio are close to selling Mario Gila and, with Alessio Romagnoli set to join Al-Sadd, the club are assessing reinforcements, including Brighton’s Diego Coppola.

Il Messaggero reports that three defenders top the shortlist and that Coppola, 22, has asked to join Gennaro Gattuso’s side. The Italy international rose at Hellas Verona, struggled to settle after last year’s Brighton switch, then impressed on loan at Paris FC.

Gila has agreed personal terms with AC Milan on a €5 million annual salary. Romagnoli has already landed in Doha after getting the green light to sign for Al-Sadd. Lazio will look to buy at least one new centre-back, and two arrivals have not been ruled out.

Sergi Dominguez, 21, left Barcelona’s academy for Dinamo Zagreb last year and became a mainstay, helping them win the domestic double. Lazio have an agreement in principle with the Spaniard and his entourage, but are trying to lower the fee, with Dinamo’s price north of €10 million.

Pietro Comuzzo, 21, is also being monitored but is not seen as a priority. The Italy U21 defender has earned strong reviews, and Fiorentina could sell after buying Viery from Gremio for €17 million and Radu Dragusin from Tottenham Hotspur for €18 million. Due to his age and nationality, his costs would be exempt from Lazio’s Financial Fair Play accounts under a new rule promoting local youth.
