Dieng begins Valencia pre-season with medicals, says he is ready | OneFootball

Aliou Dieng began pre-season with Valencia on Wednesday, completing routine medical and fitness tests after the club confirmed his signing on Tuesday night.

According to Superdeporte, he was seen leaving Hospital IMED, said he was ready and that he would see supporters soon, then travelled to Paterna to meet Carlos Corberán and his new team-mates.

The 28-year-old Mali international was set to be presented at 12:30 at Mestalla, then join on-pitch training under Corberán.

He landed on Tuesday afternoon at Manises Airport and was announced hours later on a two-year contract with an option for one more. He did not need a fresh medical, having completed one months ago once an agreement was reached.

Dieng arrives from Al-Ahly SC in Egypt. Since 2019 he has played 250 official matches and won three league titles, two cups and four Egyptian Super Cups, plus two CAF Super Cups and four CAF Champions Leagues.

He captains Mali and featured at the most recent Africa Cup of Nations. His profile blends power, athletic coverage and ball recovery, providing continuity, progression and a reliable first pass in midfield.
