AS reports that Aliou Dieng is among Valencia’s first two signings for next season, with the Mali midfielder set to join the Mestalla club.

The agreement was struck in March while he was on international duty in Saint Petersburg for a friendly against Russia.

Mali did not qualify for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, which begins next week. Yesterday they faced Iran in Türkiye, where Dieng started as captain, and Iran won 2-0. He began his holidays after the match.

Dieng’s prominence at Al-Ahly waned once it was announced he would not extend his contract and would sign for Valencia, featuring only 210 minutes across their last six matches.

By contrast, he remains a reference point for Mali’s midfield and has kept his starting berth. Dieng and De Haas will be part of Valencia’s squad next season, both joining on free transfers to bolster midfield and defence.
