Dimitri Payet announces retirement from football

The French midfielder Dimitri Payet, who played for Vasco between 2023 and 2025, announced his retirement from football this Sunday (22), in an interview with Ligue 1+ during the halftime of the match between Olympique de Marseille and Lille, for the 27th round of the French Championship.

“Today, on the eve of my 39th birthday, I am retiring as a professional football player. It is today. It’s raining, and for a good reason,” declared the now former player, who played 38 games for the French national team, with which he reached the final of Euro 2016.
