This weekend Stole Dimitrievski will start in goal for Valencia at the very ground where, only months ago, he could have ended up.
According to Superdeporte, his name was pushed hard in Orriols last summer as Levante sought a reliable goalkeeper familiar with LaLiga. Valencia’s financial demands, together with Levante’s tight salary cap, cooled the talks and the club moved on to other options.
The Macedonian joined Valencia on a free after his Rayo Vallecano contract expired. He has grown in importance this season, stepping in during an injury to first-choice Julen Aguirrezabala and responding well whenever selected.
In LaLiga he has made five appearances for Valencia, conceding seven goals and recording one clean sheet. When called upon, he has offered composure and experience in a demanding position.
He also started throughout the Copa del Rey, playing every minute. He conceded three goals in the competition, with the team going out in the quarter-finals to Athletic Club.
