Sky Germany reports that both Dinamo Zagreb and Benfica have tried to hijack VfB Stuttgart’s move for Nürnberg midfielder Caspar Jander.

The Croatian and Portuguese sides are two of many clubs that are interested in the German under-21 midfielder.

However, Jander prefers to move to Stuttgart, after already reaching a verbal agreement with the DFB-Pokal winners last week. It was reported yesterday that Stuttgart and Nürnberg are in negotiations over the fee for the 22-year-old, with the Bundesliga side offering €8m. The Franken side wants a double-digit million fee.

If a move to Mercedestraße does materialise, then Jander will be able to reunite with Finn Jeltsch, who also moved from Nürnberg to Stuttgart in the winter transfer window.

Stuttgart continue to be busy in the transfer market this summer. Last week, they completed the signing of Noah Darvich from Barcelona; today, they announced the signing of Lazar Jovanovic from Red Star Belgrade.
