Benfica have confirmed the permanent departure of Diogo Spencer to Alverca in the winter window. The right-back had been on loan at AFS, and joins the Ribatejo club, who were promoted this season.

A Bola reports that the fee was not disclosed and Benfica will retain 50% of his rights. Alverca have already announced his arrival.

A Benfica academy product, Spencer made his senior debut for the first team in 2023/24 under Roger Schmidt. He featured in the 3-0 win over Moreirense on matchday 29.

He joined the club in 2016/17 as an under-13 from SG Sacavenense. He won the UEFA Youth League and the national junior title in 2021/22, and the club wished him well for the next stage of his career.

Rated at €900,000, Spencer played 16 matches for AFS this season, 13 in Liga Portugal Betclic and three in the Taça de Portugal. He totalled 1,281 minutes, scoring three goals with two assists.
