Yan Diomande completed Real Madrid’s run of behind-closed-doors presentations on Tuesday, 19 days after his signing was announced. In a private Valdebebas ceremony he symbolically signed to 2033 with Florentino Pérez and Pirri present, and posed with the number 25 shirt. No supporters or media were admitted.

As with Bernardo Silva, Konaté, Dumfries, Carlos Espí and Marc Cucurella, there was no press conference. The centrepiece was a highlights reel to justify 125 million euros plus 15 in add-ons. It showcased the dribbling, goals and direct running seen at RB Leipzig, where he posted 12 goals and nine assists last season.

He played in pre-season against Schalke, then made a 30-minute competitive debut, starting the move for Carlos Espí’s winner at Espanyol in Cornellà.

“I am proud and happy because this was my dream. You have to work more than at other clubs to be the best in the world,” he told Realmadrid TV.

“They paid a lot of money because they believe in me. I do not feel any pressure,” he later told SportyTV. “If you play for Mourinho, you want to die for Mourinho. We are all ready to die for him.”

After his cameo in Cornellà, he could make his Bernabéu debut against Real Sociedad on Thursday at 21.00.
