L'Équipe reports that the disciplinary commission on Thursday upheld the referee's on-field decision regarding Vitinha's foul on Leonardo Balerdi during Le Classique.
PSG beat Marseille 5-0 at home on Sunday. The flashpoint came in the eighth minute as Vitinha tried to win the ball, his boot catching the Marseille captain's shin, with Willy Delajod in charge.
In the subsequent review, it was judged that Vitinha went in with his left leg leading and that his studs contacted Balerdi's right shin. There was no prolonged pressure and the midfielder's leg was already retracting, which limited the impact.
The absence of excessive intensity meant a red card was not deemed unavoidable. As such, the on-field decision did not amount to a clear and obvious error under the Laws of the Game.
The assessment also described Delajod's analysis on the pitch as particularly precise.
