According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Spanish federation’s Disciplinary Committee has opened a confidential inquiry into an alleged racist insult reported by Real Sociedad B’s Kazunari Kita during their match against Castellón.

In the 94th minute the anti-racism protocol was activated after Kita told the referee that Castellón’s Alberto Jiménez had called him an offensive term referring to him as Chinese, an exchange not heard by any member of the officiating team.

The committee has begun a reserved fact-finding process to clarify what happened.

It will also seek to determine, if appropriate, any disciplinary responsibility that may arise from the incident.

The episode was recorded under other observations in the referee’s report for the 4-2 fixture on matchday 29 of LaLiga Hypermotion.
