Djylian N'Guessan has joined Brest on Thursday on loan from Saint-Étienne, with no option to buy, after a proposed move to Liverpool did not materialise.
The club said in a statement that the 18-year-old forward has extended his Saint-Étienne contract until 2028.
The loan had been anticipated since Tuesday, the closing day of the French summer window, and was initially expected to follow a transfer to Liverpool.
He returns to western France, having been born in Saint-Nazaire, and has been with Saint-Étienne since he was seven.
A product of the club’s academy, N'Guessan made his senior debut in January 2025 under then coach Eirik Horneland and has played 13 matches for the Verts. He featured only briefly in Ligue 2 last season, with four cameos totalling 57 minutes.
