According to Le Progres, the DNCG has kept Olympique Lyonnais under a wage bill cap following the club’s change of control, the only measure imposed, and the team can start the Ligue 1 season.

New owner Michele Kang appeared before the watchdog on Tuesday, but no verdict arrived that day. The LFP published the decision on Friday shortly before 18:00 after reviewing OL’s finances, a move the club had anticipated.

Cost-cutting and player sales over the past year have been recognised, yet OL remain under supervision. Obligations are lighter than last year, and if the club sticks to its approved budget it should have no issues. A further review is scheduled for winter to verify compliance.

One year on from the administrative relegation to Ligue 2 on 24 June 2025, later overturned on 9 July after an emergency rescue plan, OL are in a healthier position. Extravagance will not return, and spending will match resources given falling TV income.

Recruitment, led by Benjamin Charier and overseen by Matthieu Louis-Jean and Paulo Fonseca, will again target smart, low-cost additions to keep Fonseca’s side competitive. Winger Kaïl Boudache has joined on a free from Nice. The Danish midfielder Mads Bidstrup of Salzburg and Belgian winger Julien Duranville, on loan at Basel last season from Dortmund, are expected to follow once the 2026-2027 financial year opens, with medicals expected and fees payable.
