Last season saw Chelsea pick up a Conference League trophy and then a Club World Cup in the summer. Domestically, they qualified for the Champions League.
That was a success compared to recent years, but we’ve fallen a long way from competing for the title.
Winger Pedro Neto had not won trophies before in his career, so he was delighted. But he feels the pressure of being at a big club now:
“When you play here, you have a lot of expectations, like if you can be champion or not, if you can make the Champions League or not, and if you don’t do it, the pressure is a lot,” the winger said in quotes picked up by the club’s website.

“It’s good pressure and you only get affected by that if you let it, but it’s the standards of this club.”
“I came to this club to win trophies as we did in my first season. It was an unbelievable first season for me. The second one, we have a long way to go, we have a lot to fight for. So the expectations are really big. Of course, we have the expectation to do better every year. To be at a top club, the responsibility is bigger as well.”
Well, if we want to keep standards high, we need to beat Arsenal tomorrow, it’s as simple as that. If we don’t make it into the Champions League, we will have had a worse season than last season, and there will be no denying this was a step back.
Neto also spoke about making changes to his game. Let’s not forget, he’s still just 24 and can develop a lot with the right coaching and attitude.
