Sevilla could miss out on any windfall from Dodi Lukébakio’s proposed move, if Benfica sell him to Besiktas for a fee close to what they paid last summer.
According to CNN Portugal, the Belgian winger is very close to joining Besiktas for around 20 million euros, with an agreement possible this week.
Sevilla inserted a 15% clause on any future profit when he left for Benfica late last summer. Benfica paid about 20 million euros fixed, plus a further four in add-ons, so a sale at roughly 20 million would not generate profit to apply the 15%.
Lukébakio’s first year in Lisbon did little to lift his valuation. A haematoma delayed his debut, he produced four early league assists, then an ankle fracture sidelined him for about two and a half months.
After returning, clashes with the coaching staff left him in a secondary role from February. He finished with a little over 1300 minutes across 25 matches and five direct goal contributions.
