Donald Trump has announced a $75 million fund, with FIFA contributing, aimed at restoring football infrastructure in Gaza after two years of war.
Speaking in Washington at the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council he created to focus on rebuilding the enclave devastated by the Hamas-Israel war, the US president said FIFA would help raise the sum for projects in Gaza, adding he believed they were linked to football.
Addressing FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who attended the event, Trump spoke of building pitches and bringing leading global stars, and said he would travel there with him if he can. A fragile ceasefire has been in place since October.
In a statement, Infantino welcomed the signing of a partnership agreement with the Peace Council to drive investment in football and support reconstruction in post-conflict areas.
The Gaza plan is to begin once security conditions allow and run for three years. It includes 50 FIFA Arena mini-pitches near schools and residential areas, five standard-sized pitches across several governorates, a high-end FIFA Academy and a new national stadium with 20,000 seats.
Without giving figures, FIFA said the agreement will mobilise funding from leaders and international institutions. On 13 October 2025, at a summit on Gaza in Egypt, Infantino had said FIFA would launch a fund to help restore football facilities in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, urging individuals and organisations worldwide to contribute.
