Former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas will leave Costa Rica for Italy in the coming hours to complete a free transfer to Monza.
The 37-year-old Costa Rican shot stopper, who won three Champions League titles with Los Blancos, is currently a free agent after his contract with PSG expired at the start of this month. Earlier this year, he retired from his national team, having made a historic 114 caps.
Monza have been looking for a new goalkeeper following the sale of Michele Di Gregorio to Juventus and were heavily linked with a move for Pierluigi Gollini, which collapsed at the final hurdle, forcing them to look elsewhere.
Gianluca Di Marzio details how Monza have agreed to sign Keylor Navas on a free transfer and he’ll fly from Costa Rice to Italy today to carry out his pre-transfer medicals on Tuesday before completing the move.
The 37-year-old shot stopper will face his former Real Madrid teammate Raphael Varane in Serie A after the defender’s move to Como last week.
