Napoli have agreed to send Nosa Obaretin to Lorient on loan with option to buy for €3.5m, after Sturm Graz had been in negotiations.
The 23-year-old defender has been on the Napoli books since coming to their academy from the Milan youth system in 2022.
He went out on a variety of loan experiences with Trento, Bari, and last season in Serie B for Empoli.
Sturm Graz had been in talks to secure the centre-back, but Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà, followed by Fabrizio Romano, confirmed that Lorient had managed to get a deal done instead.
It is going to be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season for a fee of €3.5m, plus a cut of the future sale.
As Obaretin’s contract with Napoli will expire in June 2027, this means it must first be extended so that this formula can work.
Genoa and Udinese had also shown interest in the Italian-Nigerian centre-back, who has never played in Serie A.

“We are trying to find a solution for him so that he can gets minutes in his legs and then be a protagonist for Napoli too,” confirmed agent Enzo Raiola on Stile TV.
“We’re talking to a few different clubs. For the moment, Napoli will maintain ownership, so it will be a loan with option to buy.”
