After a Paulista semi-final defeat to Novorizontino, Dorival Júnior centred his post-match remarks on the possible sale of André to Milan. According to Globo.com, he questioned constant rebuilding and sought clarity over squad planning.
The loss came in Novo Horizonte on Saturday night, and Dorival felt a single lapse proved decisive after a controlled display.
Before kick-off, the board advanced talks with Milan on 15 million euros guaranteed plus 2 million euros if André plays 20 matches of at least 45 minutes before the World Cup pause. No final decision has been taken, with directors due to meet within hours, possibly Sunday morning.
Dorival believes André should stay to mature and deliver on the pitch first, adding that sales should happen on the club’s terms. He also warned that selling now would leave only three days to find a replacement.
Football executive Marcelo Paz later outlined a 24 million euro valuation, with Corinthians owning 70% and thus set to receive 17 million euros, while 30% belongs to André. He said the sale is not finalised and he will back president Osmar Stabile whatever the call.
Paz added that Corinthians need to sell players to honour commitments, but any move must balance cash needs with keeping the squad competitive. He accepted André could be worth more or less in time, calling it a difficult decision.
