Sky Germany have confirmed that Nico Schlotterbeck’s Borussia Dortmund release clause has expired, restoring the club’s control over his future, and that teammate Serhou Guirassy’s clause has also lapsed.

The Germany centre-back signed a new contract until 2031 in April after a prolonged stand-off. That extension included a buy-out restricted to his dream clubs, namely Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Liverpool.

With the clause gone, Dortmund can now set the price if suitors emerge, although a departure cannot be completely ruled out.

For now a move appears unlikely, as Schlotterbeck suffered a ligament injury during Germany’s 2026 World Cup campaign.

Guirassy continues to attract interest from Fenerbahçe.
