Douglas Aurélio has left CD Castellón to join SD Huesca on loan, the club recently relegated to Primera RFEF.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the move suits all parties. The Brazilian attacking midfielder wants minutes and rhythm after a serious knee injury and relapse, while Castellón free a squad number and salary space to finalise Pablo Hernández’s squad.

Freeing room to add signings was a priority for Castellón in the final stretch of the window. Beyond Douglas Aurélio, José Albert, Tincho and Suero may leave in the coming days. The summer market closes on Tuesday 1 September at 23.59.

Douglas Aurélio arrived in the winter window of 2023/24 from Latvian football. He scored six goals in 18 appearances in Primera RFEF, helping secure promotion.

In his first season in Segunda he struck three in 25 before a knee ligament rupture. Last term he was limited to 53 minutes and one goal across five matches. Now 27 and under contract until 2028, he will look to relaunch his career at Huesca.
