The March international break will be pivotal for DR Congo and in preparation for it, the African nation have set their sights on recruiting binationals, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
In the playoffs to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in the summer, DR Congo will face either Jamaica or New Caledonia. France youth internationals Warren Bondo (AC Milan, on loan at Cremonese) and Willy Kambwala (Villarreal) are both set to be called up and have already agreed to join the DR Congo set-up.
However, the African nation are working on other deals for binationals. Foot Mercato understands that attempts are being made to call up Nottingham Forest duo Dilane Bakwa and Arnaud Kalimuendo (the latter is on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt). Both have represented France at youth level.
There are plenty of other recognisable names that DR Congo continue to target, including Stade Brestois’ Bradley Locko, Paris FC’s Obed Nkambadio, FC Lorient’s Jean-Victor Makengo, Watford’s Marc Bola, Werder Bremen’s Samuel Mbangula, Fenerbahce’s Anthony Musaba, Freiburg’s Jordy Makengo, Brentford’s Antoni Milambo, Utrecht’s Alonzo Engwanda, and RB Leipzig’s Ezechiel Banzuzi.
