Dundee Utd beat St Mirren 3-0 in Paisley, a ruthless first half lifting the visitors as the hosts slipped to fifth in the Scottish Premiership.

Jesse Randall struck in the sixth minute after Daniel Bennie's pass. Lyall Cameron doubled the lead with a right-footed effort from outside the box (12.).

VAR then found no penalty for St Mirren (20.). Paul Nsio hit the bar on a break (40.) and a check produced no red card for Bennie (42.) before Kevin Ciubotaru swept in from a set piece (45.).

After the restart, Jacob Chapman tipped over Idjessi Metsoko's header (50.), then diverted Dylan Tait's rising strike (53.) as United threatened a fourth.

St Mirren introduced Jake Young at the break, but the substitute missed from close range late on (86.).

United were clinical, registering nine shots on target from 13 attempts. St Mirren saw more of the ball, with 59.4% possession, but failed to hit the target from 10 efforts.
