One of Ligue 2’s most eye-catching players, Gessime Yassine (20), is set to join RC Strasbourg Alsace in a deal worth €7m, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Competition for the Morocco youth international has been intense. With three goals and eight assists this season, Yassine has been heavily coveted. AS Monaco were keen on signing the forward, whilst Lille OSC also made a late play. AS Saint-Étienne were also in the race, and whilst they had the means to pull off the deal, despite being in Ligue 2, they couldn’t offer the player Ligue 1 football in the immediate.

However, he is set to join the project at BlueCo and sign a four-and-a-half-year deal, as per L’Équipe. His arrival at Strasbourg is set to be confirmed in the coming days. His arrival could bring a premature end to Kendry Paez’s loan spell at Le Racing. The Ecuadorian has struggled since joining on loan in the summer and could return to parent club Chelsea.
