Dutch FA proposes international summit to reform FIFA, calls for successor to Gianni Infantino in 2027 | OneFootball

The Dutch FA has proposed an international summit in Amsterdam to overhaul FIFA governance. The federation said in a statement that it has lost confidence in Gianni Infantino and wants a new president from 2027.

A founding FIFA member since 1904, the KNVB backed Infantino’s 2023 re-election, but is now calling for new leadership.

The KNVB considers a change of president insufficient, calling for a reworked governance model. It criticises the concentration of power around the president and an inadequate separation between the presidency and the administration.

Before discussing a successor, the KNVB wants to bring national associations and confederations from every continent to Amsterdam to shape the organisation’s future. First, it wants football to agree on the kind of FIFA international football needs, then identify leaders to deliver it.

The intervention follows Infantino’s decision to drop the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which would have opened some of FIFA’s commercial activities to private investors.
