FC Barcelona continue to be a dream destination for young talents across the globe, not only for the club’s rich heritage but also the favourable environment for young talents.

One such player seen as a teenage gem who was keen on a move to Barcelona was Belgian wonder kid Noah Fernandez, the 18-year-old PSV star who openly spoke about his dream to sign for the Catalan kings.

“I’ve been a Barcelona fan since I was a kid, because of their football. My dream is to play there one day and win the Champions League,” he said last year.

Renewal close

In a recent report, SPORT bring to light that PSV have reached an agreement with Fernandez to renew his contract until 2030 and that the deal is in its final stages.

The deal comes with a salary hike that the Dutch giants see fitting, given his contributions now, and a place in the first team for him officially, since he is now 18 years of age.

Barcelona have had their eyes on the midfield sensation for a long time now, and even kept a close watch on his games to generate personalised reports of his performance and quality.

Soon, he debuted with the PSV first team and made the jump up from the academy, even playing in the UEFA Champions League for them. Understandably, the Dutch giants preferred not to wait and are now close to securing his future.

Given his progression, it is only a matter of time before Fernandez is on the radar of top European clubs as a priority signing, and PSV open the doors for his departure.

They will, however, charge a premium, and Barcelona will have to weigh up whether his signing is worth the fee commanded at the time.
