Max Eberl has given an update on Konrad Laimer’s contract situation at Bayern Munich, which remains unresolved. According to BuLi News, discussions are currently at a standstill.

Speaking around Bayern’s match with VfL Wolfsburg, the sporting managing director set out the positions of both sides.

“There are two positions that don’t align at the moment. We want to extend Konni’s contract, that’s a fact. Now we somehow have to find a way to bridge the gap regarding their expectations.”

Eberl told Sky.

Laimer joined in summer 2023 and is under contract until 30 June 2027. He has become an important squad option for his versatility and work rate, and would be 30 by the end of the deal. Bayern have signalled a stricter financial line in negotiations.

Reports suggest the Austrian earns about €eight to nine million per year and is seeking close to €15 million, a level Bayern are not prepared to meet.

“Konny is a player I greatly value. He’s extremely important for the team, as well as for the club’s public image. He works incredibly hard for the team, but he’s simply not Maradona. And players like that have to accept that there are limits.”

Hoeneß told DAZN.

“There’s absolutely no bad blood,” Eberl added.
