Eckert indicates Ramsdale to remain out, Peretz and Long preferred | OneFootball

Saints boss Tonda Eckert has indicated Aaron Ramsdale will remain out of his squad beyond the transfer window.

According to Daily Echo, the 28-year-old has not featured in Eckert's plans this season and is yet to make a matchday squad, with Daniel Peretz and George Long selected ahead of him.

Eckert has made a clear commitment to Peretz as his number one and says that stance also applies to Long. Saints have re-signed Jamie Jones to train with the group.

Ramsdale joined St Mary's in 2024 for an initial £18m. He conceded 66 goals in 30 Premier League games as Saints were relegated, then spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, who paid a £4m fee but did not make the move permanent.

His wages are understood to be manageable due to a relegation-reduction clause, and no move has materialised so far. While the window closed on Tuesday in England and most major leagues, those in Türkiye, Portugal and Saudi Arabia remain open.
