Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has issued an injury update on three key players ahead of Wednesday’s League Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Magpies are preparing to host Spurs at St James’ Park for a mouth-watering fourth round contest, which is expected to produce plenty of fireworks.
Newcastle are looking to extend their recent form to three wins on the bounce across all competitions, after back-to-back victories against Benfica in the Champions League and Fulham in the Premier League.
Howe’s side have struggled with injuries this season and could be without Sven Botman, Tino Livramento, and Lewis Hall for Wednesday’s fixture.
Hall is closing in on a return to the Newcastle team sheet, but the Tottenham clash will come too soon for the English full-back, while Botman is touch-and-go as he recovers from a ‘bad cut’.
While Howe confirmed that the ‘outstanding‘ centre-back isn’t suffering from a concussion, he could be left out of the Tottenham clash merely as a precaution.
Meanwhile, Howe has set a return date for Livramento, who hasn’t played for the Magpies since the 2-1 defeat against Arsenal back in September.
Livramento has missed Newcastle’s last five games in all competitions due to a knee injury.
Howe confirmed in his pre-match press conference that he’ll also miss the next four fixtures.
The match against Manchester City on November 22 was touted as his most likely return date.
