Edmond Tapsoba has been appointed Bayer Leverkusen captain for 2026/27, replacing Robert Andrich, with Patrik Schick named vice-captain.
Amid previous Paris Saint-Germain interest, he extended his contract until June 2031 in April 2026, and at that time he was not ready to leave. “For me, it’s clear I need to take the next step before I perhaps leave or stay forever,” he said. “But first, I have to take the next step,” he told Kicker.
The 27-year-old is a Bundesliga and DFB Pokal champion.
“You should never say never in life,” he added. “But right now, my whole heart and mind are completely focused on Bayer.”
“We’ll see what the future holds – perhaps in the near future, or perhaps in the distant future.”
