Egypt have named a 27-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, with Mohamed Salah included and Mostafa Mohamed omitted. According to L'Équipe, head coach Hossam Hassan confirmed the group for the finals.

Captain Salah, 33, set to leave Liverpool this summer, is in line for his second World Cup after 2018. Omar Marmoush, 27, of Manchester City, has had few league starts this season, eight in the Premier League, yet remains a key figure with 48 caps and 11 goals.

Nice centre-back Mohamed Abdelmonem, 27, is included despite not playing for the club this season. There are first senior call-ups for young forwards Aqtay Abdallah of Enppi SC and Hamza Abdelkarim of Barcelona Under-19s.

Egypt, semi-finalists at the last Africa Cup of Nations, will compete in Group G. They open against Belgium on 15 June at 21:00, then face New Zealand on 22 June at 03:00, before meeting Iran on 27 June at 05:00.

The tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July. This will be Egypt’s fourth World Cup.
