Officially referred Ramadan Sobhi, Pyramids FC winger & former Al Ahly player to criminal court on charges of academic fraud.

The Case Background

The investigation began after authorities caught young man sitting exam on Sobhi’s behalf at tourism and hotel institute.

The individual admitted he received money from Sobhi to impersonate him during the tests. The case led to weeks of questioning before Sobhi was released on bail of 100000 egypian pound.

In August, prosecutors ordered urgent investigations. On Monday, they confirmed Sobhi’s referral to trial meaning the 31 year old could soon face court session that may impact his sporting future.

Sobhi's consistently denied involvement stressing he's no link to the person caught. Pyramids FC also issued statement backing their player noting that the club hadn't received any prior official notice.
