Eintracht Frankfurt seek a reset under returning coach Adi Hütter after an eighth-place finish last season. According to BuLi News, the summer churn saw Nathaniel Brown join Bayern München for €50m and brought in Noël Aséko, Raphael Onyedika and centre-back Otávio.

Aurèle Amenda and Rasmus Kristensen departed, while Arnaud Kalimuendo returned to Nottingham Forest after his loan. Malik Pimpong arrived for the frontline and Noel Futkeu joined then moved on loan to Elversberg.

Pre-season began with a 7-0 win over Rot-Weiß Ffm and a 3-3 draw with SV Sandhausen, then victories against Gießen 7-1 and Trabzonspor 3-0. A chastening 7-0 loss to Brentford preceded an 11-0 Pokal cruise past SC St. Tönis.

Jonathan Burkardt hit nine across the warm-ups, including a cup hat-trick. A 4-4-2 is likely with Koch and Otávio in central defence, Larsson and Aséko in midfield, Doan and Uzun wide, Burkardt with Ebnoutalib, and Kauã Santos in goal after Noah Atubolu stayed at Freiburg.

Knauff and Collins are out, return dates unknown, so Hütter may keep things conservative. With a full squad he could switch to a back three, using Chaïbi and Uzun behind a lone Burkardt.

Frankfurt’s range is wide, from third in 2024/25 to 11th in 2021/22, when they also won the Europa League. Sorting a defence that shipped 65 in 34 is key, and with no European fixtures the aim feels Europa League at best, Conference League more grounded.
