Wednesday evening, the women’s teams of Paris Saint-Germain and Eintracht Frankfurt faced off at the Stadion am Brentanobad in the first leg of the preliminary round of the 2026-2027 Women’s Champions League (return leg on September 2). After the 1-1 draw (Frankfurt/PSG video highlights), Paris coach Paulo César spoke to PSG TV.

César: “we need to be careful.”

I think that, overall, it was very good. The team gave a very positive response. They were very united. We conceded a goal, we reacted quickly and scored. There were chances on both sides. I think they are a very good team, so we need to be careful. We have a second match. I think that at home we have the chance to put in another good performance. We’ll keep working, we’ll continue. I’m very, very proud of what the girls showed today, because it’s not easy to play here. We’ll keep going, our objective is qualification. We have a second match, and we’ll do everything for it.

Indeed, PSG managed to stay in the match despite conceding very early. There was a warning sign for a possible 2-0, which would have hurt badly. Fortunately, the equalizer came quickly to avoid a very difficult evening. PSG still has qualification within reach, but they will probably need to do a little better in the return leg. The fact that it will be at home can help, even if it is not a magic formula. There is still work to do to avoid missing out on the Champions League. That would be a major blow. They will need to put that pressure aside and instead give everything to secure qualification in style.
